Born in Brazil in 1979, Rafael Pinho took up photography after finishing his Architecture studies. He set out as a free-lancer in 2005 in Belo Horizonte, assisted photographers in New York, São Paulo and Berlin, started a Masters at Université Paris 8 and is currently based in Reykjavík and São Paulo.
His work has been shown at the Florence Biennale (Fortezza da Basso, 2011) and the Biennale di Roma (Sale del Bramante, 2012). Editorial work has appeared in Modern Painters (US), The Wall Street Journal (US), Forum AID (Sweden), Nýtt Líf (Iceland), Trip and Tpm (Brazil), FFW Mag! (Brazil), Folha de São Paulo/Serafina (Brazil) and Nowness.com.
Commercial clients include TBWA Berlin, DPZ Rio, Almap BBDO, Neogama BBH, Loducca, Jónsson&LeMacks, Atli Hilmarsson, Fíton, Unimed, Souza Cruz, Bradesco, CocaCola, Playboy, Playstation, Whiskas, Portobello, 66ºNorth, Mundi and the Center for Icelandic Art.
