Rafael was born in 1979 in Brazil. While studying Architecture he became involved with photography, finally deciding to pursue this passion after interning at a prestigious photographer's studio in São Paulo. He set out as a freelancer in Belo Horizonte in 2005 and a year later relocated to Iceland, where he collaborated with advertising agencies, fashion designers and Icelandic artists. The country's uniquely peculiar light and landscape had great influence in shaping his particular style. After three years between Reykjavík and Berlin he moved his base back to São Paulo, with assignments and projects worldwide.
